Cape Town Tourism's official bus tour is a two-hour circular ride in an open-top double-decker bus that follows a fixed route around the main central sights with a running commentary. It's also a useful, if expensive, form of transport for getting around the centre. See "Buses" for times and route details; R60. They also run an all-day tour of the whole Peninsula as far as Cape Point, leaving Cape Tourism's city-centre office on the corner of Burg and Castle streets on Tues, Thurs & Sat at 9.30am and returning at about 6pm. Booking essential; R210.
City Walking Tour tel 021 426 4260. Operated by Cape Town Tourism (Mon-Fri 11am), this departs from their visitor centre, on the corner of Burg and Castle streets. The roughly two-hour strolls don't go into any of the sites, but are good for orientation. R50.
